Tax

Taxation - a critical factor in the correct operation of a company and the competitiveness of a country - is an issue that must be addressed in its myriad dimensions (remuneration and motivation for workers, tax on profit, encouraging essential activities, taxation and the cost of production factors) at Belgian, European and international level. FEB is also very attentive to the correct development of relations between companies and the tax authorities, especially with regard to fiscal procedures and developments in rulings and Coperfin reform.

In the everyday experience of the European companies, the Internal Market has not reached its full potential. EU companies involved in cross-border transactions face higher advisory and compliance costs as well as risk exposure related to value-added tax (VAT) obligations than when they operate exclusively at domestic level. Total Tax Contribution study: Belgian companies burdened by paying and collecting taxes

FEB and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have recorded all compulsory statutory levies (taxes and social security contributions) companies in Belgium either pay or collect on behalf of the authorities (all levels) in Belgium’s first Total Tax Contribution report, which was drawn up using the international method devised by PwC. The study was conducted in 2007 for the 2006 financial year. Sixty-one companies representing the most important sectors of the economy and employing a total of around 100,000 people completed the electronic questionnaire.
