15 October 2020 - More than 85% of our GDP and the health of myriad companies of all sizes hangs on our trade and investment with our partners, both in Europe and else-where. Owing to its location, history and the quality of the products and services offered by its companies, Belgium is en-trenched in global value chains, so much so that one in five jobs in Belgium de-pends on exports outside the European Union, whether of finished products or of parts that will be integrated into other goods.
This commercial reality, which makes our country one of the most open economies in the world, must be highlighted con-stantly, all the more so because it is still so often ignored, and even deliberately denied.
This new FEB publication, created by experts from our Europe & International competence centre, is intended to help businesses get to grips with the challenges and opportunities posed by trade and investment and consequently support their expansion outside Belgium. This Focus International Trade also dovetails with FEB's efforts to promote objective debate on the consequences of international trade for Belgium.
